Make a PDF smaller without Adobe Acrobat

You do not need Acrobat Pro to compress PDF files. This free online compressor removes redundant data and re-encodes embedded images so the file is lighter while remaining a standard PDF.

After you reduce PDF size, you can merge it with other documents or convert pages to JPG if you need images instead of a PDF.

What compression changes, and what it does not

Low re-saves the PDF with object streams and leaves the original drawings and text in place. Medium and High render every page to a JPEG at different scale and quality, then put those images in a new PDF. That is why a scan usually shrinks more than a text-only report, and why Medium/High output is no longer selectable text.

Use Low when you will print or archive the file. Use Medium for everyday email. Use High when a form will not accept the attachment and you can accept softer photos. Always keep the original until you have opened the compressed copy.

The compressor refuses a file over 50 MB. A larger export has to be split first. An older phone can still struggle inside that cap; try a computer if the tab slows down. We cannot process the file for you on a server.
