When to turn PDF pages into JPG images

When a JPG is more useful than a PDF, which resolution to pick, how multi-page downloads work, and when you should keep the PDF instead.

How to save PDF pages as JPG images

  1. Decide whether you need images

Use JPG when a form, chat, or website accepts images and not PDF. Keep the PDF when you still need selectable text or a single document.

  2. Open PDF to JPG and add one PDF

Choose one unlocked PDF of up to 50 MB per file and 500 pages per PDF. The file is read in this browser.

  3. Pick 72, 150, or 300 dpi

72 dpi is for the web. 150 dpi is a practical default. 300 dpi keeps smaller type and thin lines more readable, and the JPG files are larger.

  4. Download the page or the ZIP

Each page becomes its own JPG. Download one image, or save every page in a ZIP. Closing the tab discards the images.

A page image is the right output for some jobs

A slide, a signed form, or one page of a scan is often easier to drop into a message or a CMS as a JPG than as a PDF. The converter renders each page separately, so a 12-page file becomes 12 JPEG images.

JPG and JPEG are the same format. The files use a .jpg extension. They are not a compressed PDF, and they are not a substitute for the original when you still need the document itself.

Resolution, size, and what this will not do

Higher dpi makes a sharper picture and a larger file. If you only need to show a page on a phone, 72 or 150 dpi is usually enough. Use 300 dpi when someone might print the image or read small type. If the PDF is already huge, compress is the wrong first step when the destination wants images: convert the pages you need, and keep the original PDF.

The tool refuses a file over 50 MB or 500 pages, and it refuses password-protected PDFs. It does not export PNG, WebP, or SVG. A phone can struggle with a long document even inside those limits; a computer is the safer place for a large scan.

When to turn PDF pages into JPG images FAQ

Does PDF to JPG keep the text selectable?

No. A JPG is a picture of the page. If you need to copy text or search it, keep the PDF. This tool also does not OCR a scan.

Why is there a ZIP?

A multi-page PDF becomes one JPG per page. The ZIP is only a way to download those images together. A one-page PDF does not need a ZIP.

When should I use another app instead?

Use a dedicated image editor if you need PNG, WebP, SVG, or transparent backgrounds. Unlock a password-protected PDF elsewhere first. This page does not remove passwords.
